Google has defined a new design metaphor inspired by paper and ink. This provides a reassuring sense of tactility for android applications. This visual language is defined by the Material Design Guidelines. Aim of this guideline is to develop a single underlying system that allows for a unified experience across platforms and device sizes.

Android is one of the very common open source mobile platform. This is used by several major mobile manufactures which include billion dollar brands like Samsung, LG, Sony to name a few.
